The facts
Strengths
- Free season-long leagues are genuinely free and are the main reason most people install it, with no money required at any point
- One of the best-built fantasy apps available, with live scoring, chat and league management in a single product
- State availability is published per product rather than as one blanket list, so you can see exactly which contests you can enter
- The prediction-market arm went through National Futures Association approval rather than launching around the regulator
Watch outs
- This is the caveat that held the listing back: Sleeper is under active state enforcement and litigation over its paid pick'em product. The Massachusetts attorney general sent cease-and-desist letters to ten daily fantasy operators including Sleeper over pick'em contests resembling sports betting parlays, and Sleeper Picks is consequently unavailable in Massachusetts
- A proposed class action, Holyk v. Blitz Studios, Inc., was filed in the Southern District of California on 2025-10-02 alleging the platform hosts illegal gambling. Sleeper still lists California as live for all three paid products, so that tension is unresolved
- Paid contest availability is not one list. Picks, PicksVS and Daily Drafts each have their own state map, and being able to enter one does not mean you can enter the others
- Pennsylvania does not appear on the state fantasy contest operator list, so do not assume paid entry is available there
- The state-by-state availability of the Sleeper Markets prediction-market product specifically could not be pinned down, and prediction markets are regulated under a different regime than fantasy contests
Who it is for
Anyone who wants a first-rate free season-long fantasy app. For paid contests, check which of the three products is actually available in your state before you deposit.
