About the desk

A reference desk for US gambling law, not a tipster.

Casinos Legal USA tracks what each state actually authorizes across online casinos, sports betting, sweepstakes and daily fantasy, and says plainly where the line falls. We publish the fine print that operators bury and the legal status that other sites let go stale.

What this is

Independent, and funded by disclosed affiliate links.

This is an independently run publication, not an operator and not owned by one. Nobody pays us for placement, for a ranking or for favourable wording, and no operator sees a page before it is published.

  • How it is funded: some outbound links to operators are affiliate links, marked as sponsored. If a reader signs up, we may earn a commission. That is disclosed on every page carrying one.
  • What money cannot buy: a state's legal status, a licence label, a watch-out we removed, or a place on a list. When an operator is unlicensed, mid-shutdown or facing regulator action, we say so whether or not there is a commission attached.
  • What we refuse to publish: invented star ratings, fake first-hand testing claims, offshore casinos presented as legal, and any offer we cannot verify on the operator's own terms. Where sources conflict, we say they conflict.

Corrections and contact

Tell us when we are wrong.

Laws move faster than most gambling sites update. If a status, date or offer on this site is out of date or incorrect, we want to know, and we will correct it with a dated entry in the change log rather than a silent edit.

  • Corrections and press enquiries: see the press and data page for how to reach the desk and how to cite our dataset.
  • Operators: we do not accept payment for coverage or for changes to a review. If a factual detail is wrong, send the operator page or terms URL that proves it and we will re-check.
  • If gambling has stopped being fun: please read the responsible play page. Free, confidential help is available 24/7 on 1-800-MY-RESET.
